Overview
Regular light cleaning protects the finish and keeps moving parts easy to use. Dust both blade faces, deal with marks using the material's care instructions and check any rubbing before it damages a panel.
Routine dusting
Use a soft duster, microfibre cloth or a vacuum's soft brush attachment. Work gently across the blades and clean both faces by changing their angle.
Wiping marks
For light marks, use the cleaning method approved for the material. A lightly damp cloth may be suitable; dry the area afterwards and avoid saturating joints or hardware.
Products to avoid
Avoid abrasive pads, strong solvents and harsh cleaning agents unless explicitly permitted by the product instructions. Test an approved method discreetly before treating a visible mark.
Check moving parts
Check that hinges remain secure and that panels and blades move freely. Investigate rubbing or drooping rather than repeatedly forcing the shutter past the problem.
