Overview
Openings can taper, bow or sit out of square even when they look rectangular. A shutter frame must fit the usable opening without being forced into that shape. Record multiple measurements and choose the frame around the actual variation.
I think my windows are uneven. Can I still install shutters?
Record widths at the top, middle and bottom and drops at the left, centre and right. Compare the diagonals as an additional squareness check. Keep all readings so any variation is visible.
My Direct's measuring limits rule out an inside L-frame when widths or drops vary by more than 6 mm, and a Z-frame when they vary by more than 12 mm. Ask us to check an uneven opening before ordering. An outside L-frame may let a square shutter cover an irregular recess.
