How to Read Your Shutter Drawings

Overview

Review the drawing against the labelled window before approving manufacture. Check overall dimensions, frame, sill, hinges, T-posts and midrails. Resolve any discrepancy while the specification can still be corrected.

Check the overall dimensions

Check width and drop against the labelled window and the selected mount. Verify whether the drawing shows opening dimensions or finished product dimensions before comparing numbers.

Check panel layout

Confirm panel count, hinge direction and post positions. Check that the panels can open and that the joins align with the intended window divisions.

Check horizontal features

Check midrails and other horizontal divisions against the requested centre positions. Confirm the reference from which each height was measured.

Check frame and mount

Verify the mounting method, frame profile and sill detail. They must match the actual opening and the measurements used for the order.

Resolve anything unclear

Mark the unclear detail on the drawing and ask before approving manufacture. Keep the corrected confirmation with your order records.
