Quick Measuring for a Shutter Quote

Overview

An approximate width and drop can establish an initial price. Mark those figures as quote measurements. Before ordering, choose the mount and complete the full measuring method for that frame and window type.

What you need

Use a steel tape and record millimetres on a labelled worksheet. Work at the physical window rather than using building-plan dimensions or the size of an old covering.

Measure the width

For an initial quote, take a careful left-to-right width of the opening. Mark it as approximate. An irregular window needs additional readings, and all final order figures must follow the selected frame's measuring method.

Measure the drop

Measure the approximate opening height from top to bottom. Where a sill is present, finish at the surface the shutter will rest on. Keep quote dimensions separate from the checked measurements used for manufacture.

Take a photo

Photograph the whole opening with its trim, sill and hardware visible. Use the same room label as your measurements. Send it with any pre-order question; a photograph supports the assessment but does not replace final dimensions.
