Overview
Uneven gaps often begin with a frame that is twisted or out of square. Check the frame before changing hinges or blade tension. Make small adjustments and stop if a panel needs force to close.
Check the frame first
Check level, plumb and diagonals before adjusting individual panels. A distorted frame can cause rubbing or uneven gaps that hinge adjustments alone will not solve.
Use packing at fixing points
Loosen the relevant fixing only as needed, adjust the packer and tighten gradually. Recheck the surrounding gaps after each change so one correction does not twist another part of the frame.
Check hinges
Check that hinge leaves and screws are seated correctly. Use only the adjustments provided for the hardware and make small changes while supporting the panel.
Louvre tension
Where the supplied system has a tension adjustment, change it gradually according to its instructions. The blades should hold position while remaining comfortable to tilt.
Do not force a rubbing panel
Stop if a panel rubs or needs force to close. Recheck the frame and hinge alignment, and contact us with photos if the cause is unclear before damaging the finish.
