Overview
Prepare one labelled opening at a time. Clear working space, finish any painting and check the surfaces that will carry the frame. Keep components grouped by their window labels until installation is complete.
Clear the work area
Move nearby furniture and coverings out of the working area. Protect the floor and leave enough room to lay out the frame and handle the panels safely.
Remove conflicting window coverings
Remove old brackets or fittings only where they conflict with the new mounting area. Keep the window hardware that is needed for operation and security in place.
Clean the fixing surfaces
Clean loose dust and debris from the mounting surfaces. Check the condition of the plaster, paint and trim so the frame is fixed against a stable surface.
Check the substrate
Identify timber, masonry, plasterboard or any other substrate before selecting fixings. Confirm that each fixing will reach suitable support rather than relying on the decorative finish alone.
Match components to windows
Keep panels, frames and hardware grouped by the delivered window labels. Similar-looking parts can have different dimensions and should not be mixed between openings.
