Overview
Good photographs show the parts that width and drop cannot describe. Include a full view of the opening, a side view of the trim and sill, and close-ups of projecting hardware. Match every image to the room label on your measurements.
What we need to see
Show the entire opening and enough surrounding wall to understand where the frame will sit. Add close-ups of hardware and unusual trim so the team can see the details that measurements cannot describe.
1. Pull furnishings out of the way
Move existing coverings and nearby objects aside where practical. Keep the recess edges, sill and proposed fixing surfaces visible without taking anything apart unnecessarily.
2. Show the complete architrave or recess
Include all four edges of the opening in one photograph. Take another view from the side where a sill, tiled reveal or decorative trim projects into the room.
3. Use good lighting
Use enough room light to show the frame clearly. If the bright glass makes the opening appear dark, change the camera angle or lighting and check the photo before sending it.
4. Photograph obstructions
Photograph handles, winders, locks, screens and sensors close up. Include a side view to show how far each one projects into the recess.
5. Label your photos
Name each image by room and window position. Use the same labels on your measurements and order so photos from similar openings cannot be mixed up.
